Book An Eye Exam
Home » FAQ

How much is an eye exam for glasses? How much for a contact lens exam?
A routine eye exam is $70. A contact lens exam is $95 or $115 depending on the complexity of your fit, and we charge $20 to train new contact lens wearers. Office visits to diagnose and treat conditions such as “red eyes” range from $50 – $105 depending on the complexity of the problem and whether followups will be needed.

Do I have to be dilated?
Eye dilation is performed on a case by case basis. Many patients elect to have an Optomap retinal image instead of dilation (although sometimes both are still necessary). We encourage you to read about the benefits of the Optomap by clicking the link at the top of the page.

What areas do you serve?
We are proud to be located inside the new East Vancouver Camas Costco. We are located at the corner of 192nd Ave and 1st St. Our address is 19610 SE 1st St., Camas, WA 98607.
We have patients from all over including: Camas, Vancouver, Washougal, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Orchards, Fishers Landing, Portland and Gresham .

Do you bill any vision insurance plans?
Yes. We are able to accept the following insurances: Aetna, Davis, Guardian, Lifewise, Moda, Premera, Providence, Regence, Spectera, United Healthcare, UMR, and VSP. Please call our office if your insurance is not listed. When you call to make an appointment, let us know your insurance company so we may obtain your benefit information, and remember to bring your insurance card with you to the exam.

You don’t bill my insurance plan. Can I still come in for an eye exam?
Yes! Even if we are not a provider for your specific insurance, you can still pay for the exam and we will assist you in submitting paperwork so that you can be reimbursed directly from your insurace company. This service is provided at no charge.

What forms of payment do you take?
We would prefer cash, personal check or debit card. We can also take Visa and Mastercard credit cards if needed.

How long does it take to get an appointment for an eye exam?
We are open 6 days a week. Most of the time we are available for an appointment within a few days. We do accept walk-in appointments whenever possible, but to avoid waiting or the possibility that we might not have an immediate opening it is best to schedule an appointment by calling (360) 258-6234.

How long does an eye exam take?
Most eye exams take between 20-30 minutes. This makes it convenient to fit an eye exam into your busy day.

I am interested in contact lenses. Can Dr. Lewis fit me with contacts?
We fit contact lenses on patients in all age ranges. Whether you have worn contact lenses before or want to try them for the first time, we can assist you. There has been a lot of exciting developments in the contact lens industry and we have the latest lenses at our disposal. Dr. Lewis has a lot of experience fitting and training first time contact lens wearers and has a lot of new options for those going back into contacts.

I don’t have a Costco card (I am not a member of Costco). Can I still come in for an eye exam?
Sure – you do not have to have a Costco card in order to have an eye exam with Dr. Lewis. When you get to the entrance of Costco, just let them know you are there to see the Optometrist and they will let you inside. The only thing to keep in mind is that while you will receive your prescription from us, without a Costco card you won’t be able to take advantage of the exceptional prices for eyeglasses or contact lenses at Costco Optical.

Dear Patients,

Dr. Lewis Eye Care has made the difficult choice to temporarily close due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic based on the recommendation of the CDC. We cannot perform eye exams while maintaining social distancing, so continuing to see patients at this time could contribute to the spread of the virus.

Our initial plan had been to reopen Monday April 6th. However, as we get closer to that date it is becoming apparent that we may have to be closed for a longer, indefinite period of time.

If you are having an urgent eye health issue, there are some clinics in our area that are seeing patients for emergencies during shorter business hours. You should call ahead to those offices before going to their clinic, as their availability might change day by day. Those clinics could include Vancouver Eye Care at 360-823-2020, Peace Health Medical Group Eye Care at 360-514-7210, and Vancouver Clinic in Salmon Creek at 360-882-2778.

If you need a glasses or contact lens prescription emailed to you from our office, click on the Contact Form link, type in your name, email, and what you are requesting, and we will email you the information you need as soon as we can.

Thank you for your understanding, and please stay healthy during this difficult time.

Dr. Scott Lewis, OD
